So the deal is, hackers have promised revenge on the world of Scientology and they plan to unveil something really big that will really piss Scientology off in about eight minutes. Woo! What will it be! Last time they crashed the CoS website, which I’m sure was a real crime for the general public. CoS apparently has enough time on its hands that it has been combing the internets for offensive comments and replacing them with [This comment is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Church of Scientology International]. Wowz. If only they put that energy into something useful……

Update: Aw, c’mon! All they did was post an “open letter”? Seriously?? I’m starting to wonder if this “protest group” is just a clever tool for the CoS to promote awareness of their “religion”…..hmmmm…….

Bad News: World Will Probably Fail To End (again) in 2012

This latest press release from NOAA indicates that a new cycle of solar activity will peak in 2012, which may bring with it solar storms, meaning “highly charged material ejected from the sun may head toward Earth, where it can bring down power grids, disrupt critical communications, and threaten astronauts with harmful radiation.” Oh noes! Some people are taking this as a sign that the Mayan calendar prediction is correct, and that December 21, 2012 is as far as we’re gonna get.

Unfortunately, the article fails to mention that the last time this “maximum” was reached was in 2002, and at that time, mayhem and Armageddon also, sadly, failed to occur.

Dammit!
